Sunday, August 4th is the Edinboro Area Historical Society’s Annual Blueberry Social, so be sure to mark it on your calendar.
On Saturday morning, a crew of volunteers will set up the “big white tent” on the lawn of the society’s Doucette House Museum in preparation for this popular festival. On Sunday morning, dishes of blueberry crisp will be baked and on the table, gallons of vanilla ice cream will be in the freezer and beverages will be ready to pour.
New to the event this year will be live music provided by the popular regional band, Picks and Hammers. EAHS member Jack Widner also will be playing and singing to entertain the guests.
Dottie Cokinos, the social’s coordinator, reported that,” this should be the best Blueberry Social yet! The weather forecast for Sunday the 4th is 72 degrees and sunny! The blueberries, supplied by Edinboro’s Hulings Blueberries and Farm Market are reported to be an excellent crop. Live music will set the stage for a memorable event.”
Come out to the Edinboro Area Historical Society’s Annual Blueberry Social on the lawn of the stately Doucette House Museum, located on the corner of Water and West Normal Streets just one block west of Meadville Street and the campus of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Food will be served and music played from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Tickets, available at the social, are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.
