The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PASHPO) administers all the federal and state historic preservation programs in the Commonwealth. At the federal level, the National Park Service facilitates many of the programs they administer. One of their responsibilities to the Park Service is to develop a statewide historic preservation plan every five years. The current plan expires in 2017 and the SHOP has begun the process of developing the next plan.
In order to ensure the plan is practical and implementable, they are striving to gather as much information and guidance from the public as possible. The will be hosting public forums and will partner with local groups, statewide organizations and other agencies to gather input from those sources. They have also developed a brief online survey to help them identify issues and understand the public’s vision.
