The Edinboro Area Historical Society will hold its annual dinner at Nick’s Place, 12246 Edinboro Road on Wednesday, January 30th. The doors will open at 6:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 7:00 pm. Dr. Judith Lynch will be the guest speaker for the evening.
Judith Lynch received her Doctorate With Distinction in Political Science in 2001 from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.A. in Social Studies from Gannon University. Her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in History and Political Science, is from George Washington University. From 2002 to 2004 Lynch taught at Allegheny College and was part of the Civic Engagement Institute. From 2004 to 2017, Dr. Lynch served as Associate Professor of Political Science and History at Mercyhurst University.
Dr. Judith Lynch has been a board member of the Jefferson Educational Society (JES) since it was founded in 2008 and served as its first chair. The JES promotes civic enlightenment and drives community progress for the Erie Region through the study, research, and discussion of ideas and events that have influenced the human condition
Previously, Dr. Lynch worked as an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency, taught 13 years at Villa Maria High School, and served 20 years as the County Executive of Erie County, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Lynch’s program is titled, “An Invitation to Contribute to the Writing of the Political History of Erie County.” Dr. Lynch will introduce a summary of political change as seen through the County Commissioners who served in Erie County. The County has commissioned the writing of this history which is to be a follow-up to Dr. Garvey’s political history of the City of Erie.
Prior to Dr. Lynch’s talk, Mike Baker, who works for the Erie County Planning Department will briefly discuss Erie County’s internal and external boundary changes.
