November 21st & 22nd Holiday House Tours in Edinboro

The Edinboro Area Historical Society welcomes you to attend their Christmas House Tour, which will include the residence of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania’s president (known as the Commonwealth House) located at 214 Meadville Street across from the campus and the historical society’s Doucette House Museum located at 126 Water Street.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Julie Wollman and her husband, Dr. Dan King, have agreed to let us include their home in the Christmas tour,” Carole Smith, Chairwoman for the 2015 Christmas House Tour, said.

This year’s tour is called “Christmas Through the Year.” Both houses will be decorated by Society volunteer Pat Crist. She’s installed “A Scottish Christmas” at the Commonwealth House and “Christmas Through the Year” at the Doucette House Museum.

The Christmas House Tour is set for Saturday, November 21st and Sunday, November 22nd from noon to 4:00 p.m. “The Christmas House Tour is being held the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday in order to avoid an early winter snowstorm….we hope,” Smith remarked. “We also want to get people into the Christmas spirit early and catch them before they become involved in Christmas shopping and holiday parties,” she concluded.

Tickets for the tour will be available from Edinboro Area Historical Society board members and the gift shop at the Doucette House Museum which is open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9:00 to noon. The following local businesses also have tickets for sale during their normal hours of operation: Edinboro News Journal Office, 109 Erie Street (814-273-4005); Brink Ink Embroidery and Screen Printing, 5430 Rt. 6N (814-734-5675); and Dr. James R. Schmitt, DMD, 108 High Street (814-734-3184).

The cost of the tickets is $10 and includes admission to both houses. Tickets also will be available at the decorated homes on the days of the event.
